The Franklin story→About Franklin
Franklin Electronic Publishers was founded in 1981 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Its 1986 Spelling Ace was the first handheld electronic spellchecker sold at retail. In the decades since, Franklin has published talking Merriam-Webster dictionaries, Collins bilingual translators, the Bookman expansion platform, and the classroom-focused calculator lines that generations of American students have used. Samsonic Trading Co. distributes the current Franklin catalog to U.S. retailers.
